Stop Being Your Own Worst Enemy: The Brutal Truth
Let’s cut to the chase: you are the only thing standing in your way. You’ve got all these goals, dreams, and desires, but instead of taking action, you let fear, doubt, and laziness hold you back. Yes, we said it... LAZINESS. It’s time to wake up and realize that if you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got. You want change? It’s time to stop making excuses and start making moves. If you stay on the path your on- wanting change, but not willing to change- you will find yourself 3,5,10years from now in a worse situation.
Quickly we are going to dive into some biblical principles about this topic.
(If your religion is not derived from the bible we highly suggest the following... 1. look over the principles as principles vs scriptures and 2. look into your beliefs to find the principles and scriptures on taking care of your body.)
Own Your Choices
In life and fitness, every decision you make either pushes you closer to your goals or pulls you further away. The harsh truth is that you are where you are because of the choices you’ve made. The Bible says, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). If you keep thinking like a victim, you’ll stay one. If you want to be a conqueror, you need to start thinking and acting like one.
Stop the Pity Party
We all have bad days, but sitting around feeling sorry for yourself isn’t going to help. Life is tough, and sometimes it knocks you down, but staying down is a choice. Remember, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). You have the strength inside you to rise above any obstacle, but you’ve got to be willing to fight for it. You can not claim to live for God yet be dead in working for him.
Take Responsibility
Stop blaming your circumstances, your past, or other people. Your life is your responsibility. The Bible teaches us to “run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1). No one else can run your race for you. It’s up to you to put in the work, make the sacrifices, and stay disciplined. Reality is, if other people could run the race for us we would not develop the skills needed to be successful. So you'd be left with a completed race and a loser mindset. So get off your butt and keep on moving. You got this!
Change Begins with You
If you’re not happy with where you are, it’s time to do something about it. You can’t keep doing the same things and expect different results. Jesus said, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2). That means changing the way you think, act, and live. It’s not going to be easy, but it’s necessary if you want to become the best version of yourself. Live what you want to be even though you may not "feel" like it.
The Time is Now
Stop waiting for the perfect moment. Stop waiting for motivation. Stop waiting for someone to do it for you. The time to act is now. Every day you delay is another day you’re robbing yourself of the life you deserve. So get up, get moving, and stop being your own worst enemy. Your future self will thank you for it.
This is your life. Make it count. Don't allow the spirit of laziness to take over. Take charge!
Three quick tips to keep you going:
Pencil your workouts into your schedule and show up.
Ask yourself "would the version I want for myself do this right now? " Take action based on your answer.
